Local Washington, DC-Area Managing Broker William Wiard Honored as "30 Under 30" in U.S. by REALTOR® Magazine
Award is Among the Top Accolades in the Real Estate Profession
ALEXANDRIA, VA, April 3, 2017: Local REALTOR® and Managing Broker of Weichert, REALTORS® Alexandria, Virginia William Wiard IV is honored as one of the “30 Under 30” in the country for 2017 by REALTOR® Magazine, a top accolade in the real estate industry. The selection process is highly competitive; honorees are chosen for their stories demonstrating business success, professional leadership and community involvement, among other factors illustrating a thriving career in real estate.
Wiard is a clear stand out among those honored this year and one of the few from the Washington, DC metropolitan area. He is the only managing broker in the class, and among the top in company/team sales volume

with nearly $290 million in sales and 537 sides in 2016 alone. In fact, the Old Town Alexandria office he manages was recently recognized as having the top sales volume in the Weichert Company for 2016, a thriving New Jersey-based business, which has more than 300 offices around the country.
“I am incredibly honored to be recognized with the '30 Under 30' award, as this has been one of my top career goals,” says Wiard. “I owe this honor to the many people who have supported me and challenged me throughout my career: my family, my colleagues, my clients – and everyone in between.”
Unlike many REALTORS® who enter the field as a second or third career, Wiard started in real estate at 18 years old and was mentored by his father. He says he’s always had an entrepreneurial spirit, regularly designing his own products and coming up with new ideas for business ventures, which he still does to this day.
“When my father suggested I pursue a career in real estate, I was motivated by the concept of driving my own business, seeking my own clients and building an understanding of a complex field of business that many people my age knew little, if anything, about,” he says. “I’ve certainly faced adversity as one of the youngest agents and managers in the field; there were times early on I wanted to give up, but I’m glad I stuck with it. I’ve worked hard, focused on a goal and persevered. Now, I look back at where I started and hope to help others – especially younger agents – achieve their goals in real estate.”
Wiard is a member of the Virginia Association of Realtors (VAR) and the Northern Virginia Association of Realtors (NVAR), and is currently serving in an elected position on the Board of Directors for VAR as one of the youngest members ever elected. He is also actively involved with the Young Professionals Network (YPN) both at the state and local level, a member of both the NVAR Cares Committee and the Public Policy Committee, and an ambassador to another local association Virginia. He is an ongoing sterling level supporter of the REALTORS® Political Action Committee (RPAC), which supports political candidates across the country who understand and support REALTOR® interests.
Wiard is actively involved in giving back to the community and says, “It’s an important part of real estate.” Over the years, he’s worked to raise money for Homes for our Troops and Children’s Hospital, and has helped build homes for Habitat for Humanity and Shelter House as part of the NVAR Cares Committee.
When asked, “What’s next?” Wiard says he’s excited to continue to grow his Alexandria-based office and he’s looking to get more engaged in politics. His political ambitions intend to support the real estate industry, and those looking to secure financing to purchase homes, but also to support his local community.
Wiard moved from Jacksonville, North Carolina to the Ashburn, Virginia-area with his family in 1994 where he spent much of his childhood and teenage years. He attended George Mason University from which he has a Bachelor’s of Arts in Art and Graphic Design. He currently lives with his wife in the Crystal City, Virginia area.
